Ingredients

  • 14oz beef slices (preferably with some fat)
  • 3 ripe tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Steps

  1. Score tomato tops and blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds to peel, then dice
  2. Slice onion and mince garlic
  3. Heat oil in pot and sauté onion/garlic until fragrant
  4. Add tomatoes and cook until juicy
  5. Pour in beef broth and tomato paste, bring to boil then simmer for 10 minutes
  6. Season with sugar, salt and pepper
  7. Add beef slices and cook just until color changes
  8. Garnish with green onions

Tips

Choose beef slices with some marbling for better texture. Don't overcook the beef to keep it tender.
