
Tomato Fish Fillet
A sweet and sour home-style dish featuring tender fish fillets in rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- 300g white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
- 1 tbsp cooking wine
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 cup water
- 1 green onion (cut into sections)
- 2 slices ginger
Steps
- Marinate fish fillets with cooking wine, salt, and white pepper for 10 minutes.
- Cut tomatoes into chunks and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, sauté ginger slices and green onion until fragrant.
- Add tomato chunks and stir-fry until soft, then add tomato paste and mix well.
- Pour in water, bring to boil then simmer for 5 minutes.
- Gently add marinated fish fillets and cook until they turn white (about 3 minutes).
- Mix cornstarch with water to make slurry, pour into pan to thicken sauce while stirring gently.
- Finally add sugar to taste, garnish with chopped green onion before serving.
Tips
Avoid overcooking the fish fillets to prevent them from becoming tough.
