
Cola Braised Pork Belly
A sweet and savory home-style dish featuring tender pork belly braised in cola.
Ingredients
- 1 lb pork belly
- 1 can cola (12oz)
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cooking wine
- 3 slices ginger
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 green onion
- 1 star anise
- 1 small piece cinnamon stick
- 1 tbsp rock sugar
Steps
- Cut pork belly into 2-3cm cubes. Blanch in cold water, then drain.
- Heat oil in pan, melt rock sugar over low heat until amber color.
- Add pork cubes and stir-fry to coat with caramel.
- Add ginger, garlic, green onion, star anise and cinnamon, sauté until fragrant.
- Pour in light soy sauce, dark soy sauce and cooking wine, mix well.
- Add cola to cover pork, bring to boil then simmer for 40 minutes.
- Finally turn heat to high to reduce sauce until thickened.
Tips
Watch the caramelization carefully to avoid burning.
