Ingredients

  • 1 whole duck (about 4.4 lbs)
  • 2 bottles of beer (about 16 oz each)
  • 3 slices of ginger
  • 2 green onions
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp five-spice powder

Steps

  1. Clean and cut the duck into pieces, blanch to remove impurities.
  2. Heat a little oil in a pot, sauté ginger slices and green onions until fragrant.
  3. Add duck pieces and stir-fry until lightly browned.
  4. Season with soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, salt, and five-spice powder.
  5. Pour in beer, bring to a boil then simmer for 1 hour.
  6. Finally, turn up the heat to reduce the sauce.

Tips

Maintain moderate heat while braising to ensure the duck is flavorful and tender.
