Ingredients

  • 300g pumpkin
  • 1000ml water (for steamer)

Steps

  1. Wash the pumpkin skin and remove pulp and seeds
  2. Cut pumpkin into approximately 2cm thick slices
  3. Add 1000ml water to the steamer pot
  4. Arrange pumpkin slices evenly on a plate
  5. When water boils, place the plate with pumpkin into steamer
  6. Cover and steam over high heat for 15-20 minutes until pumpkin becomes soft
  7. Turn off heat and carefully remove the plate

Tips

Different pumpkin varieties vary in sweetness and texture. Mature pumpkins are usually sweeter. Pumpkin skin contains nutrients - you may steam with skin on if preferred, but wash thoroughly. Cooking time depends on size/thickness of pieces.
